Nelson Tait is a 2009 RHP/OF with a 6'1'', 170 lb. frame from Sandy, UT who attends Cottonwood HS. He has a lanky, athletic and projectable body type. As he continues to get stronger Tait will emerge as a strong D1 prospect. He showed promise both as a pitcher and as a position player. Tait has a quick arm that works from an over the top slot. He creates good down angle with his 82-85 mph fastball and located it well to both sides of the plate. We expect his velocity to steadily climb into the mid-upper-80s in the near future. He also showed feel of a 12/6 67-68 mph curveball and overall showed aggressiveness to the zone. Offensively Tait displayed quick hands with the bat and a nice opposite field field approach. Defensively he showed off a strong outfield arm. Long term Tait looks like a pitching prospect but should also be given time to develop as a position player before deciding that he is a pitcher only.
