Ben Gooch is a 2015 SS/OF/RHP with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from The Woodlands, TX who attends The Woodlands HS. Medium athletic build, some present strength with room for more. 7.02 runner, long strider but shows range at shortstop and moves to the ball well, hands are soft, long arm action with some carry on his throws, footwork and actions more comfortable and advanced in the infield than outfield. Right handed hitter, very spread stance with no stride and limited weight shift, lower body locked up, rotational upper body swing from a quiet load, looks to pull, can improve offensively with adjustments. Also pitched, standard leg raise delivery, 3/4's arm slot, tends to fall off to first base out front and cut extension to the plate short. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, soft curveball, some feel for his change up. Good student.
