Alex Speas is a 2016 RHP with a 6-4 180 lb. frame from Powder Springs, GA who attends Mceachern HS. Slender and very long limbed projectable build. Balanced delivery with very good downhill drive to the plate, extended high 3/4's arm slot creates outstanding downhill plane to the plate, extremely fast arm coming through. Steady mid-90's fastball for two innings, will get bat breaking life at times, angle and velocity on the pitch causes lots of empty swings on pitches up in the zone. Power curveball flashes plus spin and bite with big vertical depth. Relatively new to pitching and still getting a feel for his release point but shows absolute top shelf stuff when everything is in sequence and works. Has athletic actions on the mound and should continue to improve consistency with repetitions. Huge ceiling if it all comes together. Fun to watch pitch. Verbal commitment to Mississippi State. Named to the Perfect Game All-American Classic Team.
