Aaron Pulido is a 2020 1B/LHP/OF with a 5-11 195 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Helix HS. Medium, broad shouldered build with present physical strength proportioned throughout frame. Primary first baseman, takes short steps coming off the bag, hands play well out front at the ball, funnels into a full arm action, extra step through release and shows arm strength with carry on throws. Also pitched, deliberate tempo to delivery, side step moving into a higher leg lift up past belt, hip turn at top with a longer stride coming down the mound. Works across body at release from an extended three-quarters release, generates sink to fastball and topped out at 80 mph, filled the zone and misses a sweeping curveball for strikes up to 63 mph. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Upper body dominant swing with limited shift through lower half, does a nice job of staying short to the ball with quickness to hands. Worked to all parts of the field and stays linear through the zone with barrel, jump coming off when squared and projects with additional incorporation of lower half. Good student. Verbal commitment to San Diego State.
