Jace Gilligan is a 2023 C/ with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Wayne, NJ who attends Passaic Co Tech. Medium athletic build just right for a catcher with room to add strength and physicality over the next couple years. Primary position C, using a low square stance and quick glove actions. Replaced his feet well and gained excellent ground on throws that reached 78 mph down to second. Best pop was 2.00. There was solid feel for the position and even more emerging arm strength with present accuracy. RHH using a slightly open stance and a high hand set. Swing plane works down to the ball and creates backspin, playing best when he was on time and working the middle of the field. Does get the barrel out front with strength and will be more consistent when occasional timing issues are worked out. Lower half mechanics are quiet and can add to his power potential with time. Loud contact to the pull side, especially later in his round. Very good student and has the look of an offensive catcher down the line.
