Gavin Byrd is a 2026 SS/3B with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Lakeland, FL who attends Lakeland Christian. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and some present strength already with additional room to fill. Posted a 6.94 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves around with balance and athleticism on feet, plenty of lightness and bounce overall, smooth actions which project and shows an arm that'll play on the left side, easy and clean exchange, nice present tools and long-term projection; made a nice sliding play to left in live action on hard hit ball while playing third base. Right-handed hitter, begins with a balanced base and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Hips work well in swing, utilizes a small leg lift trigger for timing. Nice bat speed and whips the barrel head through the zone, turns it well and showed a simple swing, nice offensive upside with added strength gains. Very good student.
