Santiago A Montes is a 2026 RHP/1B, 3B, IF with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from Edinburg, TX who attends Robert Vela. Large, broad shouldered frame with present strength throughout, addtional room to grow moving forward. Ran an 8.35 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, keeps hands close to belt throughout delivery, chest high leg lift with medium stride down the mound; works to an over-the-top release point with a full arm action. Fastball topped out at 76 mph, showed some two-seam run to the pitch away from left-handed bats; mixed an 11-5 shaped curveball with breaking life up to 65 mph. Fields the ball out front at first base, shorter arm action on throws, nice carry across the diamond, young footwork will continue to refine. Deliberate tempo to the ball from the outfield, low effort release, wide base while fielding the ball out front, can incorporate additional lower half. Right-handed hitter, begins with a slightly open stance, handsy swing, upper body dominant swing. Best contact when getting the barrel out front, worked to the middle and pull side parts of the field, shows some looseness to swing, can unlock additional strength with added weight shift through lower half.
