Jake Leonard is a 2025 SS/MIF with a 5-7 170 lb. frame from Macomb Twp, MI who attends Adlai E Stevenson. A medium frame with an athletic build. Strength present in the build. Ran a 6.77 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop who had some bounce to his actions during his round of defensive reps. He was able to move well, getting to the ball with good footwork. Hands worked well out front, funneling well into the throws. Had a quick and compact arm action with a higher release. Athletic actions overall. Firm throws that were at 86 mph across the diamond, adjusting slots as needed. Solid round of defense. A left-handed hitter with an even base and high hand set. He keeps the back elbow up and uses an inward leg-lift trigger to get on time. He rotated hard through contact with some strength at impact to drive the ball. There was some serious thump off the barrel. Found his best contact working pull-side and to the middle of the field. He did a good job getting on plane with pitches, creating hard contact as he met the ball out front and drove it. Hit well during live at-bats, including a well-struck ball pull-side. Produced an 82 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing. Great student. Named to the 2023 Michigan Indoor Showcase TP List.
