2007 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase
Korey Martin is a 2009 OF with a 5'9'', 160 lb. frame from Lincolnton, NC who attends West Lincoln HS. He has a live athletic body with some present strength. Martin is a good runner at 6.97 with some first step quickness. He played aggressively in the outfield, charging balls aggressively and making strong throws with a quick release. All his tools seem to point to his playing second base at higher levels if he has the hands and actions for it, the tools seem to be there. Offensively, Martin showed his hitting tools during batting practice, using quick strong hands to create bat speed and hit hard line drives to all fields. He gets to his front side quickly and got his bat started with a hand drop load. During the games, Martin had some problems getting the bat started against good velocity pitching with his late trigger and this is something he's going to have to work on. He certainly has the physical tools to hit. Martin was named to the Showcase Top Prospect Team.
