Douglas Sample is a 2027 OF/LHP/1B with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from McDonough, GA who attends Woodland. Medium athletic build with plenty of strength potential. Very good straight ahead runner for his age, 6.85 in the sixty. Primary outfielder on defense, moves well to the ball and fields it cleanly, lower arm slot with some young carry. Also worked out at first base and looked pretty smooth and athletic, has quick feet around the bag and a quick release on his throws with good arm strength. Left handed hitter, hits from a wide stance with a leg raise load, gets his foot down early, limited lower half in his swing, hands driven downhill swing, puts the ball on the ground consistently, has adjustments to make to take the next step as a hitter. Also pitched, works from a full wind up with his hands at his numbers, breaks his hands late, compact arm action to a 3/4's arm slot. Fastball worked in the upper 70's and topped out at 80 mph, still developing feel for spinning a slider.
