2024 Sophomore National Showcase (2027 Grads)
Max Hemenway is a 2027 SS/RHP/2B with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Puyallup, WA who attends Puyallup. Medium build with good length and plenty of physical projection. 6.84 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, has very easy and fluid actions, works around the ball and plays smoothly on the move, changes his slits easily and has plenty of arm strength when planting his feet, plays easy and under control with an inner clock. Left handed hitter, hits from a straight stance with high hand load, is short and direct to the ball, mostly pull side line drive contact, can drive the right center field gap on occasion, still developing his strength as a hitter but has a good base swing to grow into. Also pitched, throws from a simple delivery with a short stride out front and a 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 82 mph to go with a short slider and a developing change up, threw strikes with all his pitches and had an easy outing. Elite level defensive player whose bat will come. Good student, verbal commitment to Tennessee.
