2023 Miami Prospect Showcase
Jose Roig is a 2024 RHP/OF with a 6-1 182 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Doral Academy Charter. Long and lean athletic build with plenty of room to get stronger. Works from the stretch from the third base side, long and full arm action, loose arm with good extension and a low effort release out front, gets into his lower half well driving down the mound, high 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 86 mph, comfortable working up and down and challenging hitters up. Slider was a good pitch with two-plane depth and solid bite, will drop his arm slot at times on the SL. Showed intent and arm speed on a rare change up. Solid overall feel for pitching. Also hit and bat tools as well. Showed good rhythm to his swing from an uptight stance, loose and fluid through the zone, creates back spin and showed power to all fields. Didn't work out in the field but ran a 7.19 and is listed as a secondary outfielder. Named to the Miami Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.
