Derek Gonzalez Adams is a 2024 C/MIF with a 5-9 175 lb. frame from Juncos, PR who attends Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy. Smaller athletic build with some present strength. Very good runner for a catcher, 6.55 in the sixty. Very quick twitch actions on defense, sets up low and flexible and comes out of his crouch very well, fast exchange and release, makes very accurate throws with good on line carry, gets on top of his throws consistently. Switch-hitter on offense, has a similar approach from both sides, hits from a wide base with a deep push back hand load, inside swing path with a line drive swing plane, moves the ball around the field. High level defensive potential, how much he can improve with the bat will determine his future ceiling. Good student.
