Abdiel Ortiz is a 2026 2B/RHP/OF with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Cape Coral, FL who attends Ida Baker. Compact athletic build with good present strength. 7.38 runner in the sixty. Primary second baseman on defense, has quick hands and a clean funnel and release, quick arm with lots of arm strength for second base, made accurate throws, some feel for his footwork, tends to stay back on the back hand. Also worked out in the outfield with infield actions, big effort on his throws. Switch hitter at the plate, sets up in a spread stance from the right side with a simple heel turn load, limited lower half shift into contact, has fast hands and creates bat speed with good extension out front. Similar approach left handed with less bat speed and extension. Took a turn on the mound, worked out of the stretch from a high leg raise and a well controlled move down the mound, repeated his mechanics well. Fastball was in the low 80's and topped out at 84 mph with good running life. Tunneled a low 70's slider well that had some sharpness and created swing and miss. Threw strikes with both pitches and was effective.
