Matthew Kelley is a 2027 SS/RHP/IF with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends La Costa Canyon. Very athletic lean build. 7.17 runner in the sixty, speed plays up in the games in all ways, very aggressive base runner who gets plus jumps. Primary shortstop on defense, has easy and smooth actions to the ball, fields it cleanly with easy hands, loose and strong arm with very good carry. Also played the outfield with the same type of athletic actions. Right handed hitter, has a well timed load and shift into contact, has fast and loose hands and present bat speed, all barrels in the games including a home run. Also pitched, has a low effort delivery with a mid 3/4's arm slot. Threw tons of strikes with a fastball that topped out at 84 mph with big running life, threw to spots on both sides of the plate. Lowered slot a big on a big sweeping breaking ball. Has presence and confidence on the field and slows the game down already. Very good student, verbal commitment to Miami. Named to play in the Perfect Game 14U Select Festival.
