Harley Matela is a 2028 OF/RHP with a 6-2 194 lb. frame from Norfolk, VA who attends Cape Henry Collegiate School. Big and strong physical build. Right handed hitter, sets up from an upright and slightly open stance with a toe tap timer and short stride into contact, has strong hands and creates present bat speed, ball comes off the barrel hard, very good game at-bats that showed his pull and mid-field power. 7.06 runner in the sixty. Primary outfielder on defense, step by step actions to the ball, can be more aggressive through the ball, has raw arm strength with more there with improved fundamentals. Also pitched, worked exclusively from the stretch with a big turn over the rubber and energy down the mound, high 3/4's to over the top arm slot. Fastball was in the mid-80's and topped out at 88 mph, good carry that created swing/miss up in the zone. Curveball had big 12/6 downer shape and depth at times. Good student. Named to the PG High School All-State Select Championship Top Prospect List.
