Marietta, Ga. – The East Cobbs Astros 13U Orange walked away champions of the 13U Summer Shootout in a close battle with Team Georgia 13U National by a final score of 7-6. Both teams, throughout the tournament looked like the most dominant teams and it was fitting that the two met in the title game.

Two arms that each topped out at 85 mph and a lineup that rakes from top to bottom are what both teams brought to the championship game, an outstanding representation of what kind of talent both these teams have. After 1 1/2 inning, it looked like a good ole-fashioned pitcher’s duel between Jax Bishop and Konnor Griffin before the East Cobb Astros put up a crooked number in the bottom half of the second.

Led by Hunter Adkins and Hunter Stonecipher, the Astros were able to go up 2-0 early and did not relinquish the lead. Team Georgia made it close late but the Astros would hang on to capture the championship.

Stonecipher and William Hamacher each collected a pair of hits for the East Cobb Astros while Stonecipher and Jin Kasuya each had two RBIs in route to leading the Astros to the 13U Summer Shootout championship.

The MVP of the tournament was Carson Page whose .571 batting average and six extra base hits that included three bombs were hard to argue giving the award to anyone else.

The MVPitcher from the East Cobb Astros was Jax Bishop whose title game start gave him the victory, the Astros the championship and him the prestigious award. Bishop’s final line was 4 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 5 Ks and 3 BBs.
