BCS Qualifier Comes To Fort Myers

The 2022 BCS National Championship Qualifier is returning to Fort Myers, Fla. for the second consecutive year.

The four-day tournament will begin on Friday, June 3 with champions among each of the 15u-18u age groups being crowned on Monday, June 6.

The 15-team field representing the 15U division consists nearly entirely of Florida teams, with Chain Gang 15U Ratzer being the one outlier making the commute from Savannah, Ga.

There are several notable players to look for in the division, starting with right-handed pitcher Carlos Medina. The top-350 player in the class of 2025 will be dealing for Prime Time Carolina.

Freshwater Storm 15u will be the team to watch, as the Central Florida-based team has AJ Noble and Chase Carney on their roster, both of which hold interest from D-I programs.

The 16u field will host a very competitive 18-team field spread between four different pools.

Representing the best in their division is Juan Gonzalez and Brenden Callahan, who will be playing for the South Florida Giants 2024. Both players are ranked in the top-500 in the class of 2024 and are two of the top players to watch in Fort Myers this weekend.

The MVP Beast 2024 team will be loaded with talent from top to bottom. Right-handed pitchers Sean Newton and Andreas Alvarez will be making it difficult for teams to put runs on the board, as neither ace allowed a run on the mound last season.

17u brings the most mileage of travel from their division, with the Dallas Tigers traveling from Fort Worth, Texas, and Fep Yellow making the commute all the way from Puerto Rico.

The 12-team field will see three four-team divisions with the top-two teams from each making it to Monday’s bracket play.

Texas Tech commit and top-75 player in the class of 2023, TJ Pompey, will be the player to watch in the division. Pompey will be playing shortstop for the Dallas Tigers team making their way from Texas to play this weekend.

With every team guaranteed at least four games, there will be no shortage of baseball or quality of talent in Southwest Florida this weekend.
