WHAT ARE THE ALABAMA STATE GAMES?
That's a great question. Thank you for asking.
We were founded in 1982 at the request of the United States Olympic Committee to promote amateur athletics throughout the state. Our first event was held in 1983 in Auburn. We had four sports and drew around 600 athletes. June 2024 capped our 41st Alabama State Games, which featured 20-plus sports over 17 venues across nine communities throughout the City of Birmingham and Jefferson County. We drew just shy of 3,100 athletes.
Our Alabama Olympics event stands out in several ways. We welcome athletes of all ages and abilities. The excitement begins with a spectacular Opening Ceremony on Friday night, setting the stage for the weekend's events. Additionally, we utilize sports to encourage academic success, healthy living, and good citizenship.
The highlight of the Alabama State Games is our scholarship initiative.

Athletes who register for the Alabama State Games and attend the Opening Ceremony (free and open to the public) are entered into a scholarship drawing. At the end of the evening, we will conclude the event by announcing several winners. Over the past two years (2023 and 2024), we have awarded just over $80,000 in scholarships to athletes across Alabama. Since we started the scholarship initiative, the ASF Foundation—the parent nonprofit of the Alabama State Games—has awarded 613 scholarships totaling nearly $415,000. These scholarships can be used at any two-year, four-year, trade, or technical school.

PERFECT GAME HISTORY
The Perfect Game network began in 1993 with a vision from former scout and college coach Jerry Ford.
That vision was simple: "To give young players the best opportunity for success, to help scouts and recruiters
see and evaluate these players, and to promote the game of baseball at all levels".

Perfect Game has been hosting elite amateur events all over the country since 1997.
Talk about credibility and reputation.
