Purple vs Green highlights

8/8/2019

Purple vs Green highlights

Tyler Collins (2021 McKinney, TX) is one of the fastest players in the class and got to showcase that speed when he smashed a triple over the right fielders head.  Collins rounded the bases so quickly he almost caught the runner in front of him.  Electric!

Casey Antigues (2021 Hammond, LA) has great eye hand coordination and combines that with a short and direct swing that easily plays in game.  He hammered a well-located pitch, on the outer half, to center field for a single. Antigues seems to be in the middle of every scoring inning and looks like a true table setter at the next level.

Drew Gray (2021 Swansea, IL) has a supremely projectable 6-foot-2 frame.  The lefthanded pitcher creates good angle and gets late riding life on his fastball that peaked at 88. He also showed a curveball with big break in the low-70s that got multiple swing and misses.

Marcelo Mayer (2021 Chula Vista, CA) the local product continues to rake at the event, turning on an upper-80s fastball for a hard hit into right field.  It’s a simple swing and he has outstanding bat to ball skills.  The Southern California commit also made a nice backhanded play and displayed plenty of arm strength across the diamond from his shortstop position.

Travis White (2021 Mountain Home, TX) is a physical backstop that has noticeable forearm strength that he used to belt a hard double down the left field line.  The ball came off loud, and it quickly screamed past the third baseman.

David Horn (2022 Murrieta, CA) already asserting himself as one of the top 2022 pitching prospects at the event on day one, he swung a hot bat on day two.  He is tall with loose levers and generates plenty of bat speed. The righthanded hitter showed a good hit tool lacing a ball up the middle during game action.

Easton Swofford (2022 Bee Branch, AR) the young lefthanded hitter was unfazed by the stage and put together good at bats regularly in San Diego.  He sticks to a line drive approach, staying to the middle of the field, showcasing elite barrel skills.

Will Turner (2021 Auburn, AL) another 2-way player took the mound late in the game and showed genuine swing and miss stuff. The uncommitted prospect was up to 88 with his fastball, and commanded it to both sides of the plate.  He threw a sweeping breaking ball at 75 that missed barrels frequently during his outing.

Drake Varnardo (2021 Port Neches, TX) got extended on a fastball over the plate and annihilated the pitch to the left centerfield gap for a stand-up triple.  His swing projects well and one can easily project big power as he adds bulk to his lean frame.

Caiden Huber (2021 Yucaipa, CA) worked out well in drills showing a very good lefthanded swing.  It translated to the game with a hard triple to the right centerfield gap that go to the wall quickly.  He is a good athlete and showed good footwork on the infield as well.

Red vs. Royal Game Highlights

8/8/2019

Just as he has done all summer, Louisiana State commit Josh Pearson (2021 OF, West Monroe, LA) found another barrel from the left side, connecting for a loud ground ball single up the middle in a left on left matchup.

Mason Albright (2021 LHP, Thurmont, MD) got the start for the Red team and the Virginia Tech commit went the first three, scattering four base hits. While he ultimately allowed three runs, the lefthander showed a quick arm as he ran his fastball up to 90 mph with short slurve shape at 73 mph which collected some swing-and-miss.

Harrison Feinberg (2021 OF, Greenwich, CT) provided the second home run of the event, another of the no-doubt variety as he launched a ball over the left field fence for a solo shot. Feinberg is currently uncommitted though he’s shown well with a loud bat over the two-day event.

Tommy White (2021 3B, St. Pete Beach, FL) continued to swing a loud barrel this week in San Diego, exhibiting his big strength once again although this time to the opposite field. With a simple flick of the wrist White was able to drive the ball over the head of the right fielder to the base of the wall with big strength at the point of impact.

Michael Tsoukalas (2021 C, Arlington, WA) got a fastball up in the zone that he could handle and the Oregon State commit sent it back up the middle for a hard, line drive contact with big jump off the barrel. It was his first of two hits, lining another ball to his pull side for his second single of the game.

Ian Ritchie Jr (2022 RHP, Bainbridge Island, WA) was highlighted for his abilities on the mound yesterday, running his fastball up to 91 mph, and today showed a quick, loose swing which yield a hard, line drive single that he shot back up the middle.

Garrett Cutting (2021 SS, Las Vegas, NV) showed off his two-way potential and though he isn’t listed as a pitcher in the program he showed comfort throwing four pitches for strikes. He offers a quick arm and ran his fastball up to 88 mph with a short biting slider up to 78 mph down to his glove side.

Columbia vs Black highlights

8/8/2019

Black vs Columbia highlights

Alex Ulloa (2021 Cutler Bay, FL) came out in the first inning of the 8 AM game Thursday morning and ranged far to his right in the 6-hole, backhanding a hard groundball and in one motion, jumping and throwing a strike across the infield for an out.  He showed excellent body control, transfer ability and arm strength on the play.  The Miami commit continues to have a great event on a big stage.

Christopher Katz (2021 Raleigh, NC) has bad intentions when he steps in the batters box and has found the barrel regularly in San Diego.  He turned on an upper-80s fastball driving a ball deep to left centerfield for a stand-up double.  The Wake Forest commit shows comfort hitting against high level pitching is apparent.

Nick Fraginals (2021 Miramar, FL) has a strong workhorse frame, with long arms that give him good extension, and sat in the 84-87 range with his fastball.  Working mostly to his glove side with two pitches, he mixed a slider up to 76 that got swing and miss.  He generally worked the bottom half of the zone during his outing.

Henry Manfredonia (2021 Santa Barbara, CA) is a long and lanky 6-foot-2 righthanded pitching prospect that showed well in his start on Thursday morning.  Using a true 3-pitch mix, with a developing delivery that projects as he gets reps, ran his fastball up to 87. Effectively working a low-70s curveball with good shape and a straight changeup around 80 that helped keep hitters off balance though out his outing.

Rob Gordon (2021 Smyrna, GA) is having an outstanding morning to open up action on the last day of the event. Gordon worked a good at bat, finally staying back on a located curveball on the outer half, and drove a ball to right centerfield for a double.  The next half inning he showed his range at shortstop extending past the second base bag and used a catch-flip with his glove to record an out.  The Vanderbilt commit is smooth and functional in everything he does.

Rene Lastres (2021 Hialeah Gardens, FL) capped off a great event on the last day with a hard, stand up double, that quickly got to the leftfield wall.  He is showing good feel for the barrel and the body really projects long term.  The FIU commit has an extremely interesting power bat-power arm combination from behind the plate.

Ian Moller (2021 Dubuque, IA) has present strength and his bat speed easily transfers to games.  He has shown a looser swing in San Diego as he made a good hand adjustment during a swing, and hammered a double past the third baseman. The ability to make these subtle moves during swings could propel him to the top of the catching class.

Lucas Torres (2021 Cayey, PR) has excellent core speed at the plate and shows intent on all swings. He caught a barrel out front and promptly drove it to the left centerfield wall for a double.

Carson McKinney (2021 Columbiana, AL) has a big frame with lots of room to fill out.  Already showing functional strength, using deceptional stops in his delivery, he pounded the zone with his fastball in the 85-88 range.  He showed the makings of a good curveball in the upper-70s that he landed frequently. The Alabama commit projects well and should add natural velocity as his body firms up.

Christopher Bernal (2021 McAllen, TX) the barrel chest backstop has a long history of hitting high level arms and continued that this week.  The uncommitted prospect found a couple loud barrels during game action, finally hitting a hard double down the leftfield line.

Carlos Pena (Bayside, NY) has looked good offensively thus far.  Already recording two hits on the week and another loud out from the left side of the plate, he jumped on the mound on Thursday.  The righthanded pitcher peaked at 90 during his outing while mixing a 74 mph breaker.  The 2-way player is having a great event

Caleb Logerwell (2021 McDonough, GA) the 2-way propect lived in the upper-80s with his fastball early in his outing. He has an athletic frame and an up-tempo delivery.  He flashed a usable slider around 75 that showed promise, when he located it to the glove side.

Yoel Tejeda Jr. (2022 Davie, FL) has am uber projectable 6-foot-6 frame.  The switch hitter shows the ability to make contact from both sides of the plate and will add some damage to his barrel when he fills out. There is some rawness to his game, but a ton to dream on as a 2-way prospect.  The Florida commit took a good lefthanded swing to club a ball into right field for a hard single. He also threw one inning and topped at 86 with good arm speed.

Red vs Green highlights

8/7/2019

Red vs Green highlights

Tyler White (2021 Glendora, CA) was very good during the workouts in both BP and the infield portion. He has been solid in the night cap as well finding a barrel for a loud single into leftfield.  He has a quick bat and barrel skills that play against good velocity.

Tristan Shoemaker (2021 Weyers Cave, VA) is having an excellent day at the plate.  Already with a single earlier in the day, he turned on a fastball in the first inning of the last game for a no doubt homerun.  Showing extremely fast hands, the accuracy with the barrel has been impressive thus far in the event.

Dominic Scavone (2021 Orlando, FL) continued to make every play at third base, also got extended on a pitch for a loud line drive in the left centerfield gap.  He plays the game hard and is very comfortable playing against high level competition. He played well overall today.

Tommy White (2021 St. Pete Beach, FL) has the ability to maintain elite bat speed in games, with exceptional ability to control the strike zone and get his “A” swing off consistently.  His strong hands make it easy to flick pitches effortlessly as he did with a sharp single to left field, that came off the bat hard.  He added a single up the middle that exploded off the bat to finish 2-for-2, in his second game of the day.

Marcelo Mayer (2021 Chula Vista, CA) made a “wow” play at second base, ranging to his right and backhanding a ball deep up the middle.  In one motion, he flipped the ball with his glove to the shortstop for a bang-bang force out at second base.

Tommy Ramos (2021 Hialeah, FL) owns the farthest hit ball of the day with a triple off the middle of the centerfield wall.  The swing created backspin and the ball continued to carry until it crashed loudly against the outfield fence. He is a physically strong prospect that continues to get better.

Ryan DePew (2021 Foxfield, CO) has deception in his delivery and worked his fastball in the 85-90 range with some angle. He worked his 71-74 curveball creating weak contact throughout.  He has some upside with a clean athletic arm action.  Very competitive, forced hitters to swing at pitches located down in the zone.

Tucker Bougie (2021 Mill Valley, CA) hopped on the mound to show his 2-way ability.  He had good drive with his back side, and stayed in line throughout his outing. Throwing his fastball with downward plane in the 87-90 range.  The pitch was hard for opposing hitters to square up.  Flashing one short slider at 78 that projects as he learns to get extension with it.

TJ Wachter (2021 Shoreman, NY) sports an extra big frame with extreme projection.  He showed a consistent release point with three pitches. Tunneling them for swing and miss as he struck out four hitters in two clean frames. His fastball touched 87, while mixing a slider in the mid-70s, and his changeup up to 78 with fading life.

Green vs Columbia highlights

8/7/2019

Green vs Columbia highlights

Marcelo Mayer (2021 Chula Vista, CA) continued to show his smooth lefthanded swing in game play, turning on a pitch that absolutely exploded off the bat.  He later took an extra base on a ball in the dirt and scored on hit to right field.  He has impressive tools, but his feel for the game is equally impressive.

Tyler Gough (2022 Perris, CA) showcased an extremely quick arm while starting on the mound.  His fastball lived in the 88-91 range with very good life, and he commanded it to both sides of the plate.  His slider worked in the mid-70s and shows good shape and was sharp when he got the pitch to the glove side. This was an elite arm talent.

Cody Schrier (2021 San Clemente, CA) did not go in and take a showcase approach during action today. He worked counts, fouled off tough pitches, then hit a 2-strike pitch to the opposite field for an rbi single.  He has an overall ease to the game of baseball while checking a lot of boxes.

David Horn (2022 Murrieta, CA) was in command while on the bump during his start today.  He lived in the upper-80s topping at 89 with some sink at times.  Both secondary offerings, a slider and changeup, were well above average for his age and in the 78-81 range.  He got swing and miss or soft contact during his two innings of work.

Alonso Tredwell (2021 Coto De Caza, CA) showed a clean arm action and release throwing a fastball with angle up to 91.  He got multiple swings and misses when it was at the top of the zone.  He mostly used his fastball during his outing but got some swing and miss on a changeup that was up to 82 with arm-side run.  He also flashed a slider in the upper-70s that rounded out his arsenal.

Kelly Crumpton (2021 Jackson, MS) jumped on the mound to close his second game of the day after standing out offensively in game one.  He used an up-tempo delivery, that created deception, to fire fastballs in the 88-91 range.  He got some life when throwing to his arm side, and backed it up with an upper-70s slider that shows depth.

Max Miller (2021 Carlsbad, CA) has a simple delivery and rides his backside very well to fill up the zone with and upper-80s fastball that touched 90.  The pitch had life and darted hard to the arm side. Showing two breaking balls, a curveball at 73 that got soft contact and a very good slider in the upper-70s.  He showed one slider at 83 that showed similar action to his fastball with a bit more sink.  A quality four pitch mix for the righthanded hurler.

Columbia vs Red highlights

Columbia vs Red Highlights

Alec Grossman (2021 Austin, TX) has an up-tempo delivery and lots of athleticism. He shows elite arm speed of an 87-89/91 fastball with riding life when down in the zone.  He displayed overall upside during his outing, though spotty command at times.  He spun a mid-70s curveball that shows good shape and flashed a straight changeup at 82 as well.

Dominic Scavone (2021 Orlando, FL) is known for his defensive prowess at the hot corner, and only helped solidify that during game play today.  On one of the loudest barrels of the day, Scavone quickly dove to his left to field the ball cleanly.  He recovered well and threw accurately across the diamond to record an out, saving a run.

Kelly Crumpton (2021 Jackson, MS) sat back on a 2-strike breaking ball, driving a hard, line drive single to the opposite field.  He showed patience during the at bat until he found a pitch he could get good wood on and took a controlled swing to barrel the baseball.

Sean Smith (2021 Pascagoula, MS) showed some of the best raw bat speed during drills and translated it to game action.  He turned on a middle-in fastball and drove it to leftfield for a hit.  It makes a different sound off his bat when squared up. Smith later added a sharp single completing a 2-for-2 game.

Chase Petty (2021 Somers Point, NJ) showed elite stuff, with excellent movement on his 90-93 fastball. The pitch was extremely hard for opposing hitters to square up.  He showed the ability to tunnel a slider in the 81-83 range and added a changeup at 83, using the same release point on all three pitches.

Cameron Magee (2021 Anaheim, CA) continued his impressive day with arguably the best struck ball of the day.  He lofted a double that carried off the right field wall for a stand-up double. He creates easy bat speed that played well in workouts and the game.

Andrew Woods (2022 Monroe, LA) extreme projection, with long limbs and a slender frame that produces elite arm speed.  He showed life and downward action on his 87-89/90 fastball that was tough to barrel.  He kept his hand speed on an 84 straight changeup and got good extension on a slider in the upper-70s.

John Michael Ramirez (2022 San Antonio, TX) easily repeated his delivery during his game outing, showing command of three pitches.  Running his fastball up to 87 with occasional arm side run, he showcased the ability to work both sides plate. He had feel for his secondary offerings, but flashed a changeup that looks to be a future swing and miss pitch in the upper-70s.

Royal vs Purple highlights

8/7/2019

Royal vs Purple highlights

Ian Ritchie Jr (2022 Bainbridge Island, WA) is an impressive young 2-way prospect, who worked out well in BP this morning.  He jumped on the mound during game play today showing elite arm talent.  The fastball sat in the 88-90/1 range with riding life when down in the zone.  Mixing a low-70s curveball with solid shape, and an upper-70s changeup with fade.  His command was spotty, but the talent is high end and he will only continue to develop feel.

Travis Sanders (2022 Copperas, TX) the young righthanded hitter showed confidence in the box during game action.  Hunting pitches he could handle, he hammered a single to the opposite field off a fastball that was sinking on the outer half.  He has good bat speed and showed barrel accuracy throughout the day.

Elijah Galyon (2021 Seymour, TN) used a simple and compact swing to produce a loud barrel to centerfield. He stays balanced and has the ability to see pitches deeply and still use good bat speed to impact the ball. He added a hustle double later in the day to finish his day.

Will Turner (2021 Auburn, AL) the body and swing project well and he showed a good hit tool turning around and upper-80s fastball hitting a loud single today.  He looked very comfortable handling velocity, which should translate with a swing that should produce future in game power.

Greysen Carter (2021 Louisville, CO) is an ultra-projectable righthanded pitcher that was consistent in the 89-93 range during his outing.  The fastball had big downward angle that is tough to match.  His curveball sat in the low-70s and showed good shape and projects well as he continues to tighten the pitch.

Payton Allen (2021 Rogers, AR) saw an outer half fastball and drove it hard to the opposite field for a hard single.  The righthanded hitter stays short and uses his hands well to hit what pitches give him. He plays the game hard and is confident on both sides of the ball.
