Thanks to quality baseball on both sides of the ball, the Arizona Diamondbacks Elite Scout Team finished pool play with a 7-1 victory over the Tucson Bobcats.
It is no wonder that the DBacks Elite Scout Team was so dominant, as they threw out four different pitchers who all hit at least 84 MPH on the gun, with Andrew Shaps (Chaparral HS, Paradise Valley, AZ, 2014), a commit of Arizona State, and Chase Beal (Queen Creek HS, Queen Creek, AZ, 2014), a New Mexico recruit, each hitting 89 MPH. Garvin Alston Jr. (Mountain Pointe HS, Phoenix, AZ, 2015), a Arizona commit, and Josh Andrews (Queen Creek HS, Queen Creek, AZ, 2015), the other two pitchers for the DBacks Elite Scout Team, both threw a scoreless, 1-2-3 inning.
Cody Carpenter (Cienega HS, Tucson, AZ, 2015) stood out for the Bobcats, collecting a single in his only official at bat, scoring a run, and swiping two bases.
Ian Raidy (Desert Ridge HS, Mesa, AZ, 2016) showed off his chops at the plate by hitting an RBI double, scoring twice, and stealing a base. Also having a nice day was AJ Graffanino (Northwest Christian HS, Peoria, AZ, 2015), a recruit of Washington, who hit two singles and drew a walk, good enough to score once and plate two others.
