6-Green vs. 7-Navy Game Highlights
8/4/2018
Kai Wagner (2022 SS, Parker, CO) Went 2-for-3 in the game including a double. Aggressive hitter, getting on plane early with the bat. Rotational lower half to contact with good pitch recognition.
Dylan Lesko (2022 RHP, Buford, GA) Tossed three shutout innings to start the game, allowing one hit while striking out six batters. Power fastball up to 87 miles per hour with a sharp slider and sinking changeup. Mixes all three pitches well and generated a lot of swing and miss.
Gavin Black (2022 C, Bogart, GA) Closed out the game with two innings of shutout ball. Struck out seven batters of the eight faced. Hard fastball with life at 83 miles per hour. Also mixed in a curveball with depth in the upper 60's and low 70's.
Ryan Leary (2021 SS, Liberty Hill, TX) Showed solid tools on both side of the ball. Battled well in the box and was able to consistently find the center of the bat with the ball. Also has some soft hands on the infield and made several plays at multiple positions.
Jaron Nevarez (2022 LHP, San Ramon, CA) Has some good two-way potential as he took the mound to start the game and went three innings allowing just two hits. Clean arm action with an easily repeated delivery. Ran the fastball out of the hand at 81 mile per hour. Showed a good two pitch mix with the curveball in the upper 60's with hard and late biting action.
16-Grey vs. 17-Green Highlights
8/4/2018
Parker Dean (2022 RHP, Kokomo, IN) topped out at 83 mph with his fastball that came from a loose arm action generating sink to the pitch. Dean is a physically advanced 14U righthander and can certainly project more velocity from his 6-foot-4 frame.
Griffin Herring (2022 LHP, Southlake, TX) has plenty of arm strength from his lean frame and consistently sat 79-82 mph with his fastball during his three inning start. Herring has a long arm action and lands closed down the mound while mixing in a good 1-to-7 curveball with nice bite.
Tyler Albright (2022 LHP, Greensboro, NC) consistently made hard contact during the game with a pair of hits. Albright struck a double in his first at-bat that was driven to left-center field giving a glimpse of his gap power. He later followed that double with a pair of singles of his own that were also hit square on the barrel.
Reid Williams (2022 3B, Montverde, FL) went 2-3 that included a pull side double during Saturday’s game. Williams consistently barreled the baseball and showed and advanced approach at the plate.
Grant Hodge (2022 1B, Little Rock, AR) coils as he comes to his balance point and generates good arm speed and loose easy velocity up to 82 mph. Hodge gets downhill and the ball really jumps out of his hand. His arm works through the full arm stroke and he gets a fair amount of sink on his low-80s fastball.
Andrew Burns (2022 3B, Albertville, AL) squared the baseball up each time to the plate with loud line drives repeatedly. Burns is a physical third baseman with big-time strength to and through the baseball.
Andruw Jones (2022 OF, Suwanee, GA) drove the deepest ball of the game deep to opposite field gap. Jones just missed driving the ball out to right field as he dropped the barrel to the baseball using good bat speed and hitting the ball where it was pitched.
