Game Highlights Maroon v. Navy
Will Carter (2025, Chicago, Ill.) shined in his outing. Worked the upper-80s, grabbing one at 90 mph on the fastball, showing good burst and the ability to overpower hitters consistently. Spun a high-tilt breaking ball up to 2500+ RPMs in the low-70s that could miss bats. Turned over some upper-70s changeups with good diving fade and depth to them. Carter pitched 3.0 innings, punching out 6, and keeping the opposition hitless.
Haverly Cox (2026, O’Fallon, Mo.) was another electric arm from the day, working the low- to mid-80s on the fastball, grabbing 88 mph a couple of times on the heater. Another right-hander who could miss bats with the pitch. He showed a high-tilt curveball in the mid- to upper-60s that had a really good 11-5 shaped bite. Also flashed a harder slider with tilt and sweep in the low-70s. Both breakers spun up above 2,200 RPMs. Flashed feel for a tumbling changeup as well with low-spin. Threw 3.0 innings, punching out 2 opposing hitters and missing barrels to roll up easy groundball outs.
Cal Jenkins (2025, Winfield, Mo.) started the day off with a feel for three pitches, throwing a ton of strikes and commanding the zone well. He was up to 78 mph on the fastball and held the upper-70s with command to all quadrants. He showed a feel for a bigger breaking ball that he could land for strikes. Also flashed a fading CH in the mix. Jenkins threw 3.0 innings, allowing no hits, while punching out 4 opposing hitters. Tons of traits to like out on the mound from the southpaw.
Christophe De Wijkerslooth (2027, Chicago, Ill.) took some good swings during BP and also got it done in the game. Had one of the few barrels in a pitching-dominant game. Found the barrel and drove one up the middle, shaded pull-side into left-center for a base knock. He uses the long levers in a projectable frame well to get the job done.
Cooper Hires (2027, Olney, Ill.) got it done well in BP and then turned around, adding a base knock in-game. He was able to extend the hands to the ball and stay through it to connect and work backside, lining one the other way into right-center for a base knock to get it done for his team
Brody Phillips (2027, Arcola, Ill.) loads up with a really simple operation at the plate and was able to stay through the ball well and pick up a base knock working backside into right field. His hands get deep in the load, and he transfers the weight to get on time and do damage. Drove one the other way into RF for a single in-game.
Cooper Hoog (2026, Arnold, Mo.) got it done for his team in-game after taking some loud hacks during BP. Rotates hard and fast with impact strength and jump off the barrel. He used his physicality well to collect a couple of hard-hit balls on the day overall. Drove one into the right-center gap, picking up a double in the second inning.
Austin Baldwin (2026, Chesterfield, Mo.) was able to do damage for his team to collect a double of his own late in this contest. He pumped one into the gap, seeing it down to hustle out the extra-base hit. He stayed shorter on it and was able to drive through contact and connect for the XBH on this swing. Smooth stroke did damage.
Brayden Saling (2025, Sherman, Ill.) picked up a late base knock in this contest, with a base knock working back up the middle on a line. Connected on-time and on-plane to catch a barrel and drive this one for a barreled up single into center. Also took the mound and worked up to 83 mph on the fastball with feel for a curveball and changeup in the mix. Navigated 2.0 innings with a couple of punchouts to his credit along the way.
