MLB ALUMNI FLASH GORDON AND CLINT HURDLE TO SERVE AS

MANAGERS FOR DICK’S ALL-AMERICAN CLASSIC AT CHASE FIELD

12 former MLB players will be at Chase Field events throughout the weekend

Sanford, Florida (Friday, August 16, 2024) – As Perfect Game, the world’s largest youth baseball and softball platform and scouting service, kicks off a big weekend at Chase Field, it was announced today that former MLB All-Star pitcher Tom “Flash” Gordon and former MLB manager Clint Hurdle will return as managers for Team East and Team West at the 2024 Dick’s All-American Classic, taking place this Sunday at 5:00 pm PT at Chase Field in Phoenix, Ari.

After finishing his 21-year major league career as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Gordon joined Perfect Game and has spent the last decade mentoring youth baseball players all over the United States. The three-time All-Star led the American League with 46 saves in 1998 for the Boston Red Sox and is the only pitcher in major league history with 100 wins, 100 saves and 100 holds.

Hurdle played 10 years in the major leagues before transitioning to the role of manager, leading both the Colorado Rockies and the Pittsburgh Pirates to the playoffs. Hurdle won National League Manager of the Year in 2013 and currently sits at 1,269 career wins.

Gordon and Hurdle are part of a group of 12 former major league players who will be interacting with the 60 best high school baseball players in the country throughout the weekend at various Perfect Game events at Chase Field. The list includes Diamondbacks legend Luis Gonzalez, Hall of Famer Trevor Hoffman, four-time All-Star Hunter Pence, World Series champions Francisco Cervelli and Jose Contreras, seven-time All-Star Alfonso Soriano, eight-year veteran Todd Coffey, All-Star slugger Ryan Klesko, 11-year veteran Sean Berry and four-time All-Star Brian Fuentes.

Perfect Game’s weekend of events at Chase Field will feature the Underclass All-Star Game on Friday at 11 am PT, the Home Run Challenge on Saturday at 10 am PT and the All-American Classic on Sunday at 5 pm PT.

Admission to all events is free and media is welcome to attend any of the events throughout the weekend.
