3-Gold v. 6-Red Game Highlights

8/28/2022

Evan Schickler (2025 RHP, Nesconset, NY) impressed on both sides in this one, as the 2025 New York native threw two scoreless innings on the mound and collected three hits. At the plate, he stay rather simple and uses the whole field effectively. Its a short, direct hand path with some present bat speed and feel for the barrel. He navigated both sides of the plate with his fastball up to 76 mph and mixed in a developing breaking ball as a change of pace.

Nolan Rhodes (2025 3B, Katonah, NY) collected two hits in this one, as the 6-foot-2,165-pound third baseman tripled and drove in two. It is a simple, repeatable stroke with some natural lift and strength at impact.

Will Irwin (2024 OF, Levittown, NY) continued to show off his handle for the bat, as the twitchy left-handed hitting outfielder collected two hits in this one. He stayed through the middle-of-the field with his movements and delivers the barrel with some quickness to his hands.

Nicholas Ranaudo (2023 C, Massapequa, NY) impressed with his ability to deliver the barrel on-time, while collecting two hits in this one. He generates some separation with his lower half into contact and has some feel for the barrel. He will continue to expand his overall hit tool with some minor refinements and additional strength.

Alvin Gomez (2024 3B, New York, NY) showed intriguing two-way upside in this one, as the projectable right-hander ran his fastball up to 85 mph from a lightning quick three-quarters arm slot. He mixed in a promising breaking ball that varied in shape but flashed best when thrown conviction. At the plate, he collected two hits including a double and knocked in a run. Its a loose, twitchy swing with some present bat speed and feel for the barrel. The projection remaining is certainly enticing and will be fun to watch him develop physically on both sides of the ball.

Logan Alberto (2023 OF, East Patchogue, NY) showed good feel for the barrel with a scorched line drive to centerfield. He generates some whip to his barrel and uses his lower half well to create torque.

Owen Shortell (2023 C, Saint James, NY) collected two hits this one, as the uncommitted 2023 backstop showed some feel for the barrel and the ability to adjust well from pitch-to-pitch. He stays fairly short and direct with his hands, while showing off compact bat speed.

Anthony Manzi (2025 RHP, Bellerose, NY) is a immensely projectable 2025 Grad with huge upside on the mound. He ran his fastball up to 81 mph on the bump from a loose, whippy three-quarters arm slot. He generated some sink to the bottom of the zone. He mixed in a short, late biting slider for strikes and a firm changeup as his go-to secondary options. Manzi, a Saint James, NY native showed some two-way abilities as well by doubling at the plate.
