10/14/2023 12:00:00 AM

Andrew Castor (2027 OF, Marion, IA) came up huge for the North squad in the first game, leading off the bottom of the fifth with a triple down the line.  He took advantage of an inside pitch and got himself in scoring position early, representing the game winning run.  He has quick hands and is able to stay inside the baseball well.

Will Nesler (2027 RHP, Ankeny, IA) did a nice job of letting an outer half fastball travel deep into the hitting zone before sending a hard line drive to the opposite field gap for an RBI single.  He has an on-balance swing from the left side of the plate and does not try to do too much with what is offered.

Caleb Gafford (2027 SS, Pinehurst, TX) got the offense started for the North team against the West with a hard hit line drive into the gap.  He stays direct to the baseball and shows nice barrel control through the zone.  He is able to hit any pitch in the zone and is aggressive early in the counts on mistakes made by pitchers.

Cameron Barnes (2026 RHP, Oak Park, IL) came up big for the North team in the first inning versus Florida, driving in two on a double to right field.  Barnes let the ball travel deep into the hitting zone before getting the barrel to the ball and driving it deep down the line.  He is a presently strong athlete that has a knack for finding the barrel.

Sebastian Vargas (2027 SS, Winter Garden, FL) turned on a mistake made by the North pitcher and launched a double down the left field line for a stand-up RBI double.  He does a nice job of timing the pitcher and getting the barrel out in front of the plate, allowing him to make hard contact to all parts of the zone.

Cole Travers (2026 3B, Sebring, FL) made the most of his first opportunity today, driving in a run for the Florida team on a hard line drive to left field.  He did a nice job of working the count into his favor and not chasing anything out of the zone.  He has a mature approach at the plate and does a nice job of staying on plane with his swing.

Chase Andress (2026 LHP, Tampa, FL) is a tall left-handed pitcher that has a projectable frame and advanced stuff for his age.  He repeats his motion well and gets extended nicely on the mound.  His fastball has solid arm side running action that keeps it off opposing hitters barrels.  He pairs this heater with a breaking ball with two plane movement and tons of vertical break.  He showed the ability to land this breaking ball in the zone for strikes, keeping opposing hitters off balance.

Chase Lowery (2027 C, Magnolia, TX) jumped on a fastball today sending it hard into the right center field gap and motoring around for an easy triple.  He has strong hands and utilizes his frame well at the plate, allowing him to consistently square up pitches.

Johnny Chen See (2026 C, Miami, FL) was all over the ball today and used his powerful swing to leverage a deep home run to right field to drive in two runs.  He has a smooth swing from the left side of the plate and swings the bat with intent, looking to do damage to any pitches that get left out over the plate.  He stayed hot at the plate against Florida, crushing a line drive high off the fence for a double.

Caleb Van Lant (2027 SS, Murrieta, CA) was all over the fastball in the second game today, sending it hard back up the middle for a loud base hit.  He stays short to the ball and is consistently on balance, allowing him to fully cover the plate.

Colton Christman (2027 LHP, Las Vegas, NV) did a nice job of keeping his hands inside the ball during his first at bat against the Florida team, driving in a run with a base hit to left field.  The lefty bat has a tall frame with plenty of room to add strength and power as he ages.
