2008 Top Prospects

Chris Amezquita - SS - 2008 - La Mirada, CA
Pro tools and plus body to go with those tools. Swings the bat with authority with present day power and more to come. Plus arm across the diamond translated to the mound (touch 90). Advanced feel of the breaking ball as well.

Andrew Biancardi - 3B - 2008 - Aptos, CA
Seemingly got nothing but hits each time up. Makes consistently hard barrel contact and hits the ball hard to all fields. Has middle of the diamond hands and a strong arm though his range is suited to third base, where his bat will play.

Jamie Bruno - 1B - 2008 - Covington, LA
Physical lefthanded bat with power to all fields. The ball jumped off his bat with a flick of his strong hands and wrists. His bat will play at first base but he did show up to 86 mph on the mound with some feel for the breaking ball.

Hunter Cervenka - LHP - 2008 - Baytown, TX
Powerful young player. Big arm that showed up on the mound and in the field. Went up to 90 mph on the hill and flashed a well above average breaking ball. His power profiles to a corner spot and he showed plus instincts on the bases.

Bobby Crocker - OF - 2008 - Aromas, CA
His combination of athleticism and baseball ability may have been the top at this event. Above average speed with an arm and tracking ability that all profile in CF. Plays hard and puts pressure on the defense. His power will come.

Beau Didier - SS - 2008 - Federal Way, WA
Lefthanded-hitting middle infielder with an advanced hitting approach. Uses whole field and has power to get into and through the gaps. Very easy swing produces lively contact. Good hands in the infield and a left side arm.

Rolando Gomez - MIF - 2008 - Pembroke Pines, FL
Plus feel for all phases of the game. He is a hit machine and seems more comfortable facing better pitching. Defensively he is exceptional at making plays on the move and has plus hands to go with a very quick release.

Jason Hanson - IF - 2008 - Tucson, AZ
Did not have great results but showed tools that will earn him attention in the coming years. Strong arm tracks across the diamond and he has middle infield hands. Has plus bat speed and when relaxed made hard contact.

Shane Kroker - 3B - 2008 - Westlake Village, CA
Can flat out swing the bat, with a very fundamentally sound line drive stroke with good bat speed and the ability to hit upper level pitching right now. His power is still developing, but it is coming. Solid defensively, likely moves to 3b in the future and his bat will play there.

Maverick Lasker - 3B - 2008 - Phoenix, AZ
Athletically built, he showed hands, arm and a bat that all profile well at third base. Polished pitcher with ability to throw quality strikes all day long. Went up to 88 mph with the fastball and showed plus feel of an above-average curveball.

Clark Murphy - 1B - 2008 - Fallbrook, CA
His raw power rates with top players in this graduating class. Lively hands and a consistently hard barrel contact. The bat head flies through the ball at contact and his power is to all fields. Will Clark type swing . . . yes, that good.

Ryan O'Sullivan - RHP - 2008 - El Cajon, CA
A polished young pitcher with 90 mph fastball and plus feel of a developing power curveball. Great mound presence, too. Oh yes, he can also swing the bat. Has an advanced approach and line drive power to all fields. Brother Sean was a top two-way prospect in 2005 prep class.

Daniel Pulfer - MIF - 2008 - Cypress, CA
Excellent hands work for him both at the plate and in the field. Gamer type with strength and strong baseball instincts. Short and quick swing produces hard line drive contact. Hands and arm work well at either middle spot.

Abraham Ruiz - 3B - 2008 - Pacific Grove, CA
Has plus raw power to all fields. Bat head stays in the zone for a long time and showed that he can be fooled and still hit the ball hard. Quite good on defense with soft hands, a strong arm and feet that are surprisingly light.

Jordan Sivertsen - RHP - 2008 - Richmond, IL
Nothing out of his hand was straight. Went up to 88 mph on the gun with good sink on the arm side. Complemented the good fastball with a breaking that at times flashed as a future plus pitch. Competitve and he swung the bat well, too.

Jordy Snikeris - C - 2008 - Austin, TX
Top all-around tools among the catchers. Showed a lively bat and the ability to make plus contact on the pull side. Nice exchange and a strong arm tracks well down to second base. Also showed quality receiving and blocking skills.

Brent Warren - OF - 2008 - Robins, IA
Long, rangy and athletic with projectable tools across the board. Left hand hitter showed an easy line drive swing with hands that work. The ball spins of his bat, providing carry that projects good future power, and he hit the ball hard to all fields.

2009 Top Prospects

Jiovanni Mier - SS - 2009 - Pomona, CA
Fluid player with an advanced feel for the defensive side of the game and a lively swing. Makes all the plays and wowed the scouts with a spectacular double play turn. Up to 86 mph on the hill with a quick arm and a put-away slider.

David Nick - MIF - 2009 - Cypress, CA
Very advanced young player with plus hands that show up on defense and at the plate. Plus hitting approach and a feel for the game that is shocking for his age. Lean and projectable frame, his is a name to know for years to come.
